Brink named new RADPAC® chair

Washington, D.C.  (Dec. 8, 2014) – James A. Brink, M.D., FACR, has been named the chair of RADPAC® for the 2015-2016 election-cycle. Brink is radiologist-in-chief at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Juan M. Taveras Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School.

“I’m very excited to take over as chair of RADPAC — the dollars we raise are the fuel that powers our advocacy and government relations efforts that are so critical to the future of our specialty.”

Outgoing RADPAC chair, Bibb Allen, Jr., M.D., FACR, led RADPAC to new heights in the 2013–2014 election-cycle. Under Allen’s leadership, RADPAC enjoyed its most successful election-cycle in its 15-year history. RADPAC backed candidates won 253 of the 271 House races and 32 of the 33 Senate races. Additionally, RADPAC gained national attention by making over $1 million in independent expenditures in the 2014 elections.

“Being the chair of RADPAC has been a rewarding experience. We emphasized the ‘fun’ in fundraising and as a result of our success, we were able to educate policymakers on issues important to the radiology profession. Dr. Brink’s experience in fundraising will enable him to do a superlative job as the chair of RADPAC and I look forward to watching him take what we’ve built to the next level.”
