Radiology Partners Launches Physician Boards to Drive Input Across Key National Practice Functions

El Segundo, Calif. (September 7, 2016) – Radiology Partners (RP), the fastest growing and largest physician-led, on-site radiology group in the United States, today announced the creation of internal physician leadership boards that will help drive strategy and decisions around national support functions. Nine physician leaders were appointed for two-year terms in the following areas: human resources, radiology service coordinators and RP University.

“The physician boards are an important component of our practice’s commitment to physician leadership,” said Rich Whitney, Chairman and CEO at Radiology Partners. “We will only reach our full potential as a leading radiology practice through the leadership, engagement and collaboration of our radiologists.  These boards, the first of several more to come, will also make sure that our support teams are continuing to enhance the service they provide to our radiologists  ”

The creation of the boards is due in part to the tremendous growth RP has experienced over the last year. The growth of the practice, including the recent addition of 80 radiologists from Columbus Radiology, required more formal leadership and governance structures for key national programs. The boards ensure physicians are involved in decisions affecting the national functions of the practice in a structured format.

“Our focus has always been—one practice, locally led.” said Dr. Anthony Gabriel, chief operating officer at Radiology Partners who oversees the program. “These boards support this notion of bringing local leaders together to drive ideas and strategies around national functions. Most importantly, RP has the ability to make those ideas a reality.”

RP chose human resources, radiology service coordinators and RP University as the first focus areas because each has a direct impact on all RP physicians—from physicians treating patients and working with referring physicians, to developing physician leaders, to creating a differentiated practice culture.

Human Resources—The human resources physician board will assist RP’s human resources department with recruitment, retention and performance management strategies. Members include:

  • Dr.  Khanh Huynh, Houston, TX
  • Dr. Russ Norwood, Chicago, IL
  • Dr. Syam Reddy, Chicago, IL

Radiology Service Coordinators—The radiology service coordinators physician board will work to establish best practices around collaboration and efficiency among radiologists and service coordinators ultimately enhancing the support provided to our radiologists and referring physicians. Members include:

  • Dr. Hez Balch, Fort Worth, TX
  • Dr. Matthew Clower, Houston, TX
  • Dr. Okan Suzer, Owensboro, KY

RP University—The RP University physician board members will work with RPU’s leadership to team to continuously refine and add to RPU’s physician leadership curriculum. Members include:

  • Dr.  Gregory Henkle, Chicago, IL
  • Dr.  Robert Klinglesmith, Houston, TX
