Research at RSNA will compare image shuffling to side-by-side technique

SAN DIEGO, CA – Harvard scientists, in cooperation with physicians from Cottage Health System and DR Systems, will be conducting a live study at the Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) Annual Meeting. The objective of the study is to assess Image Shuffling, a progressive reading method, relative to traditional side-by-side image comparison.

The study is being led by Dr. Jeremy Wolfe from Brigham and Women's Hospital at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Trafton Drew from The University of Utah, and Drs. Michael Trambert and Mark Kovacs of Cottage Health System.

Image Shuffling is patented technology from DR Systems that allows radiologists to
“flip” between overlaid comparison images. It is designed to help radiologists better perceive any differences or changes between recent and historical images.

The study being done with RSNA attendees will focus on Image Shuffling for its use in mammography. But the study may also have impacts beyond radiology, Dr. Wolfe said, explaining, “Image Shuffling can tell us something fundamental about human visual perception while at the same time, it could have an impact on clinical practice.”

All physicians attending RSNA are invited to participate in the study by visiting the DR Systems booth.  Participation takes 15 minutes and will occur in the booth.  All participants will be entered in a raffle to win an iPad. Register early here.

DR Systems will be located in Hall B North Building at Booth #6113. RSNA will be held Nov. 30-Dec. 5, 2014 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
