Toshiba’s New Infinix 4DCT Seamlessly Integrates IR and CT into One Solution

As the first seamless integration between Interventional Radiology (IR) and CT technology, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc.’s all-new InfinixTM 4DCT provides clinicians with faster, safer and more accurate interventions. With this innovative combination, healthcare providers can plan, treat and verify in a single clinical setting for better patient care – rather than transferring patients between departments, risking infection and dragging out procedure times.

Toshiba’s Infinix 4DCT maximizes the full potential of IR and CT systems to deliver real-time CT images during interventions instead of CT-like images. The system significantly improves workflow with its SUREGuidance technology (pending 510(k) clearance) that allows for seamless and automatic transition between modalities. And, it is capable of saving hours by allowing clinicians to perform CT and interventional procedures within the same room and verify treatment success immediately after procedures.

Clinically, the system improves workflow of oncology and cardiac procedures. It provides interventionalists with CT images of liver tumors and produces more precise views of the heart and stent placements. Clinicians can also adjust the procedure with real-time studies instead of relying on CT images taken at an earlier time.

“Given the choice, most physicians would want real-time CT images versus CT-like images during complex, minimally invasive procedures,” said David Sloop, director, X-ray Vascular Business Unit, Toshiba. “With the Infinix 4DCT, physicians no longer have to settle; for the first time, they have a seamlessly integrated IR and CT product to improve patient care.”

Toshiba is introducing the Infinix 4DCT at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 30 – Dec. 5, 2014 (Booth #7333, North Hall). Currently the system is FDA cleared with the Infinix Elite and AquilionTM ONE ViSION Edition configuration. It is (pending 510(k) clearance) for use with the Aquilion PRIME CT system.
