Houston Methodist Hospital and Siemens Healthineers have entered into a multi-year agreement to bring cutting-edge technology to Houston Methodist that is not currently available in the Texas Medical Center. This agreement will provide innovative, world-class medical technology to Houston Methodist Hospital and all of its community hospital facilities.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., , Aug. 8 — Carestream Health introduced new MR Brain Perfusion and MR Brain Diffusion modules that enable radiologists to read these imaging studies from a CARESTREAM Vue PACS diagnostic viewer (see video link). The company has received FDA 510(k) Clearance for use in the United States, and these new tools also have been approved for use in Europe and other countries across the globe.

Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital (Bloomington, Ind.) purchased and installed a new CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution Plus (see video link), in addition to two CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution systems and three CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems. All of the systems deliver rapid image access and enhanced image quality. The 250-bed hospital has eight CARESTREAM DRX detectors in three sizes — 10 x 12 inches, 14 x 17 inches and 17 x 17 inches — to address diverse imaging needs including NICU and gastroenterology as well as inpatient and outpatient exams.

To improve diagnostic confidence with clearer images and consistent exams, Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga., installed three new AplioTM 500 Platinum CV ultrasound systems from Toshiba Medical, a Canon Group company, in its cardiology department. To support ultrasound capabilities in the ICU, Floyd Medical also installed the XarioTM 200 Platinum Series ultrasound system. Floyd Medical is leveraging the systems for strain imaging, pediatric and fetal echocardiography and stress echocardiography.

Reston, VA (July 5, 2017) – The Harvey L. Neiman Health Policy Institute has updated the Radiologist Patient-Facing Dataset (RPFD) with 2015 Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) data. This free resource allows radiologists to determine if they would be designated as patient-facing by CMS. This designation affects Merit-Based Incentive System (MIPS) participation. The tool also allows practices to look up all the radiologists in their practice to determine if they are likely to be exempt under the MIPS group reporting option.

New research presented at the American Society of Breast Surgeons Annual Conference in Las Vegas last week indicates that intraoperative use of 3-D specimen tomosynthesis enables breast surgeons to significantly reduce their re-excision rates compared to traditional 2-D imaging.
