Treating only cancer cells without harming surrounding tissue and organs has become the focus of those directly involved in cancer care.

ViewRay, a producer of linear accelerator-based radiotherapy technology, has reached an agreement with Henry Ford Health System in Detroi to provide such services to the Detroit-based healthcare group.

Henry Ford is the second, alongside the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, to adopt ViewRay’s technology. The MRI-guided process delivers radiation to the tumors while attempting to avoid healthy organs. Still only available for non-clinical research, ViewRay is continuing to evolve into standard radiation vaults to further enhance patient care.
