AmSurg Corp acquires Radisphere

Radisphere Radiology has been acquired by Sheridan, the physician services division of AmSurg Corp.

Radisphere is a national radiology practice that was founded in 2001, is active in 25 states, and employs over 100 radiologists who provide both onsite and teleradiology services.

AmSurg operates an ambulatory services business that acquires, develops and operates ambulatory surgery centers in partnerships with physician practice groups in the U.S. AmSurg owns and operates 243 ambulatory surgery centers in 34 states and provides physician services in 25 states, employing more than 2,600 professionals and other healthcare professionals.

“Radisphere’s geographic footprint complements Sheridan’s existing service areas and will allow us to strengthen our network of relationships with key hospitals,” said Christopher Holden, president and chief executive officer of AmSurg in a statement. “We will continue to evaluate and execute on great opportunities like Radisphere that provide both strategic value and growth for AmSurg.”

According to AmSurg, the addition of Radisphere to Sheridan will create a radiology group that reads more than 3 million studies a year.

Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
