Cardiac cath lab, interventional radiology suite open at Fairmont Regional

A new cardiac cath lab and interventional radiology suite have opened at Fairmont Regional Medical Center (FRMC) in Fairmont, West Virginia.

The $1.5 million facility will allow cath lab staff and physicians to perform cardiac catherization, the gold standard for coronary artery imaging. The staff will also be able to diagnose coronary artery disease and determine what further steps will need to be taken.

Some new technology available will be the Toshiba Infinix Elite cardiovascular x-ray system. This new equipment includes digital software that can archive studies to both the cardiology PACS and radiology systems. The machine is also equipped with dose reduction technology that monitors patient radiation dose.
