Delaware’s Women’s Mobile Health Screening Van has been serving the state for 20 years, but it might lose funding in 2019.
Delaware Gov. John Carney is recommending that the state’s 2019 budget eliminate the van, which would save approximately $277,000, according to a report from WHYY. Funding for the van is traditionally provided by Delaware’s Division of Public Health. It is maintained by the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition in partnership with Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware.
“We intend to advocate on behalf of the van and the work it’s doing,” Vicky Cooke, a consultant for the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, told WHYY.
