Medtronic to benefit from rosy forecast for the medical equipment market

In spite of consolidation and the uncertainty of a rapidly evolving healthcare market, the market for medical devices and equipment is expected to grow at least 5 percent annually until 2022, according to the market research firm Evaluate. The report was presented at the AdvaMed 2016 medical device conference, held mid-October in Minneapolis.

The market experienced stagnation overt the past two years, leading to a 2015 that was full of mergers and acquisitions, including Medtronic's purchase of Covidien that formed a sales behemoth, claiming the top spot in the U.S. with $29 billion in annual sales.
