NHS Scotland launches international recruitment drive for radiologists

Scotland’s healthcare system, NHS Scotland, has announced an international recruitment drive to boost the country’s number of radiologists by 10 percent. Several areas, including the United States and Canada, will be targeted by the drive.

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) issued a statement in support of the “much-needed” drive. “Overseas radiologists tell us they love working in the UK because of the camaraderie, clinical and learning opportunities they are exposed to in the NHS and the Scottish health system has a lot to offer incoming doctors,” Grant Baxter, chair of the RCR’s standing Scottish committee, said in a prepared statement.

Scottish Health Secretary Shona Robison said in the same statement that NHS Scotland is “determined to recruit and retain the best and the brightest in order to deliver sustainable health services for the people of Scotland.”

The health system is looking to fill more than 30 vacancies. Additional information on the recruitment drive can be found on its website.
