Toshiba USA to open research facility at Johns Hopkins

Toshiba Medical Research Institute USA will be opening their third imaging research facility in April, located near the campus of Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Baltimore location will join Toshiba's other facilities in Cleveland and suburban Chicago, Illinois.

Collaboration between Toshiba and Johns Hopkins began in 2014, with the establishment of the Toshiba Center for Big Data in Healthcare near the hospital campus. Research will continue in the vein of past work between the two institutions, leveraging the clinical data and expertise of Johns Hopkins with the data and imaging tech of Toshiba.

"When it opens, the Toshiba Medical research center will showcase next-generation technology that will offer a unique opportunity at the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore Medical Campus to collaborate with researchers seeking the most advanced imaging capacity in the world," Toshiba Medical Research Institute USAworte in a press release.

Joao Lima, MD, MBA, professor of medicine, radiology and epidemiology at Johns Hopkins will lead the collaboration.
