At least four hospitals and 60 clinics throughout Idaho and Oregon are about to see an imaging technology upgrade, according to a statement by the hospitals’ network, Saint Alphonsus Health System.

The health system’s imaging machines will now include Toshiba Aquilion Prime 80 CT machine, bringing the system’s Toshiba CT machine count up to eight.

According to Toshiba, the new machine can deliver higher resolution images at lower doses. It can take up to 60 images per second, the fastest rate currently available. The Prime 80 includes the Radimetrics eXposure software, which allows radiologists to more closely monitor patient dose levels over time.

Officials at Saint Alphonsus, which is a part of Trinity Health, said these features will benefit patients and healthcare providers alike, since it is designed to be faster, safer and more accurate. Plus, using Toshiba machines across the health system allows for procedural standardization that also contributes to those goals.

Saint Alphonsus Medical Imaging Regional Director Scott Christensen said in a statement, “Standardizing a platform across our hospitals has been important to ensuring system-wide patient safety and diagnostic efficiency.”
