$4 million in radiology grants awarded to 101 recipients

More than 100 radiology research grants will receive a total of $4 million of new funding this year. The money comes from the Radiological Society of North America’s Research and Education Foundation.

It’s the highest amount the organization has ever awarded in one year, according to a statement released by its representatives. The foundation has awarded more than $50 million throughout more than 30 years.

The 101 individual recipients at 54 different institutions are set to use the money to explore new radiological findings and develop new technologies and methods for radiological practice. They include at least two international recipients, from India and Nigeria.

The money awarded by the Radiological Society of North America could only be these recipients’ first show of financial support from the radiology community. According to a statement, a grant from the Illinois-based society is often followed by up to 40 times more in funding from other sources to continue recipients’ work.
