ASRT announces 2018 Award for Advocacy winners

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has announced the winners of its 2018 ASRT Award for Advocacy: The Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologists and Brian Rich, board chair of the Texas Society of Radiologic Technologists.

The Award for Advocacy has been presented to one ASRT affiliate society and one individual since 2003. Nominations come from current ASRT members.

The Pennsylvania Society of Radiologic Technologists, according to a statement from ASRT, “has a long-standing and active legislative committee that has worked tirelessly for nearly a decade to advocate for public policy reform in the pursuit of patient safety and professional standards.” The group has also “helped mobilize the state’s radiologic technologists.”

Rich, meanwhile, is being recognized for being “a singular driving force in support of consistent education and certification standards” for imaging professionals throughout Texas, according to the ASRT statement.

The awards will be presented in June at the 2018 ASRT Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting in Las Vegas.
