The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) will donate $10,000 to the American Red Cross to help Florida recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Irma.
“Hurricane Irma hit shortly after Hurricane Harvey landed in the Houston area, so there are a lot individuals who need support right now,” said ASRT President Amanda Garlock, MS. “We hope that our donation to the Red Cross for Hurricane Irma, coupled with our donation for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, will help our members and their families get their lives back in order.”
ASRT is working with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to determine the amount of technologists affected by Hurricane Irma. ASRT plans to extend the membership period for members and provide access to alternative programs for continuing education credits.
“There could be as many as 40,000 registered radiologic technologists living in areas affected by Hurricane Irma,” said ASRT CEO and Executive Director Sal Martino, EdD. “We’re committed to helping the technologists get back on their feet and continue to provide top-notch care to patients in need of help after this devastating period.”
