New SIR president assumes office at annual meeting

M. Victoria Marx, MD, officially assumed the office of president of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) for 2018-2019 during the group’s annual meeting, SIR 2018, in Los Angeles. Marx works as an interventional radiologist at Keck Medicine of USC in Los Angeles.

“This is an exciting time to be an interventional radiologist,” Marx said in a prepared statement. “Interventional radiology is recognized as its own specialty and residency programs are overflowing with a diverse and highly competitive pool of applicants in just their third year. The future of our specialty is bright, and I am proud to lead SIR during this time of surging interest in the limitless potential of image-guided therapies to improve patient care.”

Other incoming 2018-2019 SIR officers also assumed office, including president-elect Laura Findeiss, MD, of Emory Healthcare in Atlanta.
