Radiology Leadership Institute announces award winners

The Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI) announced this week that it has named E. Stephen Amis Jr., MD, and Glendon G. Cox, MD, MBA, MHSA, this year’s recipients of the Leadership Luminary Award.

“Over their professional careers, Drs. Amis and Cox have demonstrated the highest level of leadership, bringing great distinction and honor to the field of radiology,” Frank J. Lexa, MD, MBA, RLI chief medical officer, said in a prepared statement.

Amis has held numerous positions and received many awards over the course of his career. He was awarded gold medals from both the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Society of Uroradiology and also received a Legion of Merit award from the U.S. Navy. He also played a key role in developing ACR Appropriateness Criteria and co-founded Image Wisely.

Cox was a founding partner of Overland Park Radiologists and has held a number of key positions at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. He conducted research that helped with the development of modern PACS technology.

An awards dinner in honor of Amis and Cox is scheduled for September 9.
