Breast density reporting legislation signed into law in Utah, Washington and Florida

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee and Florida Gov. Rick Scott have all signed breast density reporting legislation into law this week. These laws require facilities that perform mammography to notify patients when it is determined they have dense breast tissue.

More than 30 states have now passed legislation related to breast density notification. An interactive map from Are You Dense? Advocacy can be found on the group’s website.

In Wisconsin, a similar bill has been passed by both branches. It is expected to be signed into law soon.

The House and Senate have both introduced federal legislation with bipartisan support. More information on those bills can be found here.
