Montana hospital, radiology group accused of fraud

A lawsuit against Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital in Bozeman, Montana, alleges that the hospital has been involved in a kickback scheme with Advanced Medical Imaging, a Bozeman radiology group.

According to a report from the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, radiologists Frank Rembert, MD, and Michael Paradise, MD, brought the case forward under the False Claims Act.

The lawsuit alleges that Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital received approximately $2 million per year, free services, majority ownership and more from Advanced Medical Imaging for patient referrals.

“While we will defend our organization and its long-standing integrity, our primary focus remains on serving our patients and communities with high quality, high reliability and high value to improve community health and quality of life,” the hospital said in a written statement, as quoted by the Chronicle.
