An imaging center in Hawaii is expected to resume its mammography services soon after they had been temporarily suspended by the FDA.

Back in April, Radiology Business reported that the results of almost 12,000 mammograms taken at the Women’s Imaging Center in Hilo between June 30, 2014, and August 24, 2015, were in question after an annual American College of Radiology (ACR) inspection revealed a problem with one of the center’s mammography units.

Now, according to a report from the Associated Press, the center, which is operated by Hawaii Radiologic Associates (HRA), is on track to renew those services after the ACR accredited its machines again.

“We passed everything again,” David Camacho, MD, one of the HRA’s radiologists, told the AP. “So, we’re waiting for the FDA to now certify us.”

More than 3,500 patients have called either their physicians or the center to ask for a new review, and 350 mammograms have been checked so far. Of those that have been checked, three women have been asked to come in for another screening.
