Ohio rad discusses dosage risk, reward in biz magazine

A cost-benefit analysis is a crucial exercise in determining the need for any radiological exam. Columbus CEO, a business magazine focused on central Ohio, dove into the topic with an interview with Thomas Buse, MD, medical director of radiology at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Buse laid out the pros and cons of testing, along with a belief that a cautious, personalized approach is best for all.

“As a custodian of radiation, I want to be very judicious in how I use it,” said Thomas Buse, MD, medical director of radiology at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. “In my mind, the medical community is very aware of radiation. Our awareness of potential risks, and the fact that we don’t know all the details of a cause-effect relationship between radiation and illness, means we’re very judicious."
