Federal prosecutors have dismissed an indictment against Mohamad Reza Nazemzadeh, a scientist who tried to purchase and send a coil for an MRI scanner to Iran in 2011 without first acquiring a license from the government.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the original indictment was related to the embargo on exporting products to Iran, but those tensions have since eased ever since the United States, Iran, and other nations reached an agreement in 2015 that lifted certain sanctions.
