Toshiba introduces new HD camera for medical use

Toshiba America Information Systems has introduced its IK-HD5UM full HD camera to the marketplace. This new camera meets all applicable IEC 60601-1 Medical Design Standards and is rated for medical use.

The IK-HD5UM includes a 3-CMOS high-definition video camera with DVI-D and USB3.0 outputs. According to the official Toshiba release, it was designed for use “in surgical microscopy, surgical light camera integration, or surgical room monitoring and surveillance, and other non-patient contact and non-diagnostic imaging applications.”

Toshiba America Information Systems is an independent operating company owned by Toshiba America, a subsidiary of Toshiba. Toshiba grabbed headlines earlier this month when rumors spread that the company was considering selling its medical equipment business subsidiary, Toshiba Medical Systems Corp., to Fujifilm Holdings.
