vRad announces new patent for escalating radiology procedures through AI

vRad, a MEDNAX company, announced this week that it has secured a patent for using artificial intelligence (AI) to escalate high-priority radiology procedures.

The patent, officially titled “Medical Evaluation Machine Learning Workflows and Processes,” is vRad’s 18th overall.

Shannon Werb, the company’s president and chief operating officer, said in a prepared statement that the patent will help vRad, and MEDNAX, provide patients with high-quality care.

“This latest patent highlights the value MEDNAX radiology, powered by the vRad platform, creates by providing better overall patient care,” Werb said. “We are focusing our artificial intelligence strategy on helping doctors do a better job by removing obstacles and elevating their reading experience where their technical efficiency and interpretive accuracy are maximized. Our goal is to improve overall interpretation accuracy, speed, and quality so that our network of radiologists can focus on what they do best—taking great care of patients.”
