The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared an artificial intelligence add-on for the “world’s first” portable MR imaging system, officials announced on Thursday.
Hyperfine Research said its new deep-learning analysis software can aid in measuring brain structure and pathology in images obtained by its Swoop system. Minutes after the exam, the app produces annotated and segmented scans, providing clinicians with quantitative markers for diagnostic insight, according to an announcement.
“With this powerful tool now built into the Swoop system, we are making MR imaging not only accessible at the bedside but making it easier for providers to move quickly from scan to a recommended course of treatment,” Chief Medical Officer Khan Siddiqui, MD, said in a statement. “The data provided by Hyperfine's deep learning software will liberate users of our MR technology by providing simple, accessible information in just minutes.”
