Asheville Radiology Associates tightens agreement with Mission Health

As part of a broader management and exclusive services agreement, 37-member Asheville Radiology Associates practice sold its interests in two joint-ventured imaging centers to Mission Health, Asheville, NC.

As a result, Asheville Imaging Center and Asheville MRI will be rebranded as Mission Imaging Services, according to an article in the Asheville-Citizen Times.

The newspaper also reported that Mission Health and ARA are in negotiations to transfer the practice's vein centers, Carolina Vascular Center and The Vein Specialists, to the health system.

Jill Hoggard Green, chief operating officer of Mission Health, called the arrangement “an example of putting the right resources together in the right way, to assure optimal care for the patients who depend on us.”

Mission Health operates six hospitals, including the region’s only Level II trauma center, multiple outpatient and surgery centers, a post-acute care provider and a long-term care provider.

Asheville Radiology Associates employs more than 200, including 37 radiologists, five vascular surgeons and nine physician assistants. Bryon Dickerson, MD, president of Asheville Radiology, told the newspaper that the deal positions both entities to meet patients’ needs efficiently and effectively.
