Sen. Duckworth leads veterans roundtable to discuss radiology care at VA

U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois) and Democratic congressional candidate Brendan Kelly held a roundtable event at the American Legion with veterans across southern Illinois. Earlier this year, there were reports of misread radiology scans that were uncovered at the facility.

The main topic of discussion was patient care provided at the Marion VA Medical Center in Illinois, according to a report from ABC affiliate WSIL-TV.

A radiologist at the facility complained to Duckworth about rushed exams and patients diagnosed as being healthy when they actually had cancer and other serious diseases. The radiologist’s concerns were heeded, and a complete investigation was opened in the matter.

“They don't even report back to the veteran after he or she had some type of testing done,” Vietnam veteran Mike Gunter told WSIL. "They don't listen, and by they, I mean upper management."
