UK hospital sees improvements after radiologists work overtime

The radiology department at the U.K.'s Great Western Hospital is seeing significant improvements after radiologists and other providers put in extra hours to combat long patient wait times.

More than 1,100 patients were left waiting more than six weeks for scans in the summer. National Health Service (NHS) administrators had to hold a “crisis meeting” to discuss potential improvements within the radiology department, according to reporting from the Swindon Advertiser.

“October has been a good month at the hospital, across all the areas of radiology in particular,” said Paul Vater, COO at Swindon NHS Clinical Commissioning Group. “There was full compliance with the NHS standards. That improvement has been very evident in October.”
