Australian hospital outsourcing all CT exams due to staffing mishap

Canberra Hospital in Canberra, Australia, was forced to outsource all inpatient CT exams to an external provider for a full week due to “an unplanned leave” within the radiology department

During the delay, scans are being processed by teleradiology provider Everlight Radiology.

“A lot of the doctors are unhappy because it means they can’t talk over a scan or a patient in person,” said Stephen Crook, secretary of the Salaried Medical Officers Federation, according to a report by The Canberra Times.

A spokesperson for ACT Health has said that the hospital is currently working on recruiting two new specialists.
