Canon Medical Systems, Manchester United Football Club renew imaging collaboration

Manchester United Football Club and Canon Medical Systems Europe announced they have officially renewed their clinical collaboration. The partnership gives Manchester United, a popular professional soccer team from the U.K., access to Canon Medical’s advanced imaging equipment and other healthcare solutions.

The agreement, first signed in 2012, led to Canon Medical’s CT, MRI and ultrasound equipment being installed at Manchester United’s Aon Training Complex in Manchester, England, where radiology and cardiology research initiatives are often carried out and later presented at industry conferences.

“Medical technology powers confident diagnoses, speeds up treatment planning and ensures a faster return to the field of play,” Mark Holmshaw, president and CEO of Canon Medical Systems, said in a prepared statement. “It is at the heart of modern healthcare, improving outcomes for everyone, whether that is in sports performance, or wider clinical practice.”

“We are delighted to extend what has been an excellent partnership with Canon Medical Systems over the past six years,” Richard Arnold, group managing director for Manchester United, said in the same statement. “At Manchester United, just like at Canon Medical Systems, we pride ourselves on innovation. Our world-class medical team at Manchester United, partnered with the world-class team at Canon has helped us provide our players with the best possible medical care.”
