Deadline approaching to apply for ACR’s Moorefield Fellowship

The American College of Radiology (ACR) issued a reminder that the deadline to apply for the James M. Moorefield, MD, Economics and Health Policy Fellowship, is June 1.

The fellowship is sponsored by the ACR Economics and Health Policy Department. During a two-week program, the chosen applicant is taught how the ACR develops CPT billing codes, works to have a positive influence on healthcare policies and more. The chosen applicant spends the two weeks at the ACR’s headquarters in Reston, Virginia.

The James M. Moorefield, MD, Economics and Health Policy Fellowship is open to third- and fourth-year residents and fellows. Second-year residents are eligible if they become third-year residents prior to June 2018.

“The business of health care is evolving,” Ezequiel Silva III, MD, chair of the ACR Commission on Economics, told Radiology Business. “It is vital that a new generation of radiologists understand the economic forces that impact our profession. This fellowship is a great opportunity for young radiologists to spend two weeks in the Economics and Health Policy section of the College and work closely with the staff on various economics activities. It is also a chance for them to educate themselves regarding what can be done to inform and shape economic and health policies to improve patient care.”

More information on the fellowship is available on the ACR’s website.
