Hospital employees plan rally after technologists lose jobs

Employees from St. Joseph Hospital in Eureka, California, have planned a rally for Jan. 24 to protest the hospital’s decision to lay off two radiology technologist assistants.

The hospital has let go numerous employees in recent months, according to a new report from the Eureka Times-Standard, and it has providers concerned about patient care.

“When you’re delayed at the beginning, it all unravels: the exam is delayed, the results delayed, the patients’ finding out delayed—it creates a domino effect,” said Kyle Glenzer, a technologist at the hospital, as quoted by the Times-Standard.

Employees held a similar protest back in October 2018.
