Radiology Partners Research Institute awards five $20,000 grants for imaging research

The Radiology Partners Research Institute (RPRI) has awarded five $20,000 grants to imaging-related research projects throughout the United States.

The RPRI is a collaboration between Radiology Partners and various academic medical institutions. Three of the grants went to universities—Duke University, the University of South Florida and the University of Chicago—while the other two were awarded to practices affiliated with Radiology Partners.

RPRI leadership, including Eric Rohren, MD, PhD, chair of radiology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and Jay Bronner, MD, chief medical officer of Radiology Partners, lead the selection process. Each application was evaluated using a specific scoring system, and projects that were “clinically focused, research-based and quality- or education-centric” were made a priority.

“We are extremely proud of the work being done through the RPRI research grants and were impressed by the strategic value of the programs we evaluated,” Bronner said in a prepared statement. “When we started RPRI, we envisioned accelerating our ability to transform radiology through research and innovative programs. In just over a year, we have had the opportunity to collaborate with leading institutions on academic pursuits and apply many of the lessons learned to our daily practice.”
