‘Star Wars’ fans build pink stormtrooper costume to raise breast cancer awareness

Fans of the “Star Wars” films have been dressing up as their favorite characters for decades, but two groups based out of Boise, Idaho, have joined forces to do something bit different: build their very own pink stormtrooper costume.

The costume, which is bright pink from head to toe—or should that be from helmet to boots?—was created to help spread breast cancer awareness, similar to how various athletes often wear pink on the field during different games.

“They had not done a run of pink armor before, and I knew the minute I saw it that it would be a fantastic way to honor friends that I had lost to breast cancer,” Kelly Dally, one of the fans, said in an interview with KTVB.

Dally said it took seven months to finish the costume, which will begin making public appearances later this week.
