Strategic Radiology—a growing coalition of independent imaging practices—announced two firsts on Tuesday, including its initial foray into the state of Maryland.
The Palmetto, Florida-based company revealed the addition of 12-radiologist Chesapeake Medical Imaging to its roster on April 14, ballooning its total to nearly 30. Around since 2001, CMI operates 13 outpatient imaging centers across the state’s Chesapeake Bay, stretching from Nottingham to Annapolis, where it’s headquartered.
“CMI is a highly regarded, entrepreneurial practice and our first all-outpatient member group,” Arl Van Moore Jr., MD, chairman and CEO of Strategic Radiology, said in a statement. “We see a great deal of opportunity for collaboration with other SR groups in this important care arena, especially during the current challenging times.”
Founded and led by President Mark Baganz, MD, Chesapeake Medical Imaging offers the full gamut of services including CT, MRI, PET-CT, nuclear imaging, ultrasound, and women’s imaging. It’s also an amyloid PET site and previously participated in the Imaging Dementia—Evidence for Amyloid Scanning (IDEAS) study, according to the announcement.
Strategic Radiology also recently added a 100-year old imaging practice in Oregon, and a 70-year-old provider group in North Carolina. All told, the coalition’s roster of radiologists now totals more than 1,100, all sharing data, best practices, clinical expertise and certain expenses while aiming to remain independent.
