Strategic Radiology adds North Carolina’s oldest radiology practice

Strategic Radiology announced Tuesday, June 11, that Charlotte, North Carolina-based Mecklenburg Radiology Associates (MRA) has joined its growing coalition of independent practices.

MRA first opened in 1917, making it the oldest radiology practice in all of North Carolina. Its staff includes 47 radiologists who cover a wide range of services, including subspecialties such as body, cardiovascular, emergency, interventional, neuro-interventional, musculoskeletal, pediatric, neuroradiology, nuclear medicine and women’s imaging.

“We are happy to welcome Mecklenburg Radiology into Strategic Radiology,” Arl Van Moore Jr, MD, Strategic Radiology’s CEO and chairman, said in a prepared statement. “With its strong commitment to independent practice and organized radiology, Mecklenburg Radiology Associates is eager to engage in active collaboration with other SR member practices to help build on the unique value provided by member groups to our patients and the hospitals we serve.”

“As we explore the culture and opportunities Strategic Radiology makes available to members, MRA strongly identified with the SR mission to improve quality and safety, share best practices, and support independent radiology,” James C. Johnson, MD, MRA president, said in the same statement.
