ACR Board of Chancellors announces new chair, vice chair

The American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors has elected James A. Brink, MD, as its newest chair. Brink took office earlier this week during ACR 2016, the association’s annual meeting in Washington, DC.

Brink currently serves as radiologist-in-chief at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Juan M. Taveras Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in radiation safety and played an “instrumental” role in developing the ACR/RSNA Image Wisely program.

“A long-time advocate for radiology and high-quality patient care, James Brink has shown outstanding leadership in every ACR role in which he has served, most recently as vice chair,” William T. Thorwarth, MD, ACR CEO, said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to his continued outstanding leadership as chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors.”

In addition, Geraldine McGinty, MD, was elected vice chair. Howard B. Fleishon, MD, MMM, was elected to serve a second time as secretary-treasurer. McGinty and Fleishon also took office during ACR 2016.
