4 radiologists receive prestigious honor in North Carolina

Four radiologists have been inducted into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of North Carolina’s most prestigious honors.

Arl Van Moore Jr., MD, Strategic Radiology CEO, received the honor along with three radiologists from Charlotte Radiology: Robert Lackey, MD, Dale Shaw, MD, and Christopher G. Ullrich, MD. Strategic Radiology is a coalition of 26 different private radiology practices, and Charlotte Radiology was a founding member of that coalition.

The Order of the Long Leaf Pine is “awarded to persons for exemplary service to the State of North Carolina and their communities that is above and beyond the call of duty and which has made significant impact and strengthened North Carolina,” according to the order’s website. It was established in 1964.

John Nichols, MD, vice president of the North Carolina Radiological Society (NCRS), spoke in a prepared statement about the significant impact each recipient has had on the people of North Carolina.

“Each of these physicians has a natural ability to lead,” Nichols said. “Their long-term support and senior roles in both organizations, including roles as councilors and presidents in the NCRS, resulted in major support and guidance for North Carolina healthcare and governmental organizations during decades of major advancements in the field of radiology.”
