Reston, VA – Bibb Allen, Jr., M.D., FACR, of Birmingham, AL, became the new chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors during the recent ACR 91st Annual Meeting and Chapter Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C.
 
Allen, a diagnostic radiologist in the Birmingham Radiological Group, is former vice-chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors, former chair of the ACR Commission on Economics and former ACR representative to the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (the RUC). Allen is chair of the Neiman Health Policy Institute's Advisory Board and a leading proponent of Imaging 3.0, the ACR's strategy for moving toward value-based health care.

He is a longtime advocate of the radiology profession and a nationally recognized expert in the field. Vice Chair — James A. Brink, M.D., FACR, of Boston, became vice chair of the Board of Chancellors. Brink is Radiologist-in-Chief at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Juan M. Taveras Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School. He is immediate past chair of the ACR Commission on Body Imaging, co-chair of Image Wisely® and serves on the JACR editorial board.
 
President — Paul H. Ellenbogen, M.D., FACR, of Dallas, was elected ACR president by the ACR Council. Ellenbogen is a partner in Radiology Associates of North Texas. He served as chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors from 2012-2014, vice chair from 2010-2012, secretary-treasurer from 2006-2010 and held various other leadership roles within the College. Ellenbogen is past president of the Texas Radiological Society and past chair of the department of radiology at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Texas Radiological Society in 2009 and the Presidential Award of the American Association for Women Radiologists in 2013. Dr. Ellenbogen is a fellow of the ACR in addition to holding fellowship in the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound.

Vice President — Deborah Levine, M.D., FACR, of Boston, was elected ACR vice president by the ACR Council. Levine is a leader in academic medicine, serving as vice chair of academic affairs in the department of radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and chair of the Harvard Medical School longer service committee for promotions. She is a professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, is the past chair of the ACR Commission on Ultrasound, senior deputy editor of Radiology, and vice president of the Massachusetts Radiological Society.
