ASRT, ARRT spearhead grant for education, professional growth

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) Foundation will award a $500 grant to 50 radiologic technologists (RTs) to support educational efforts and professional growth. The “Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants” program will be funded by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Education, according to the ASRT Foundation’s website, is the first of three components of the ARRT Equation for Excellence.

“Education and development are important prior to earning initial and post primary certification, but also throughout a professional’s career to help keep knowledge and skills up to date in an ever-advancing health care industry,” the website noted.

The awards will be presented to at least one recipient per active affiliate of the ASRT and the technologists may use the funds as reimbursement for continuing education, educational conferences and selected professional development programs; however academic courses will not be eligible.

Applications must be members of the ASRT and part of an active affiliate or eligible for membership for both.

“The reach of this program is outstanding as it supports radiologic technologists working in every state,” said Steve Hardy, MS, executive vice president of the ASRT Foundation. “We’re very excited this grant will cover first-time ASRT membership and a new or renewed membership in an ASRT affiliate. It’s an incredible opportunity for everyone.”

Applications will be accepted June 18 through Aug. 17. Grant awardees will be notified in mid-September.
