Radiologist loses Republican primary in Tennessee’s 8th District

Radiologist George Flinn, MD, lost the Republican primary in Tennessee’s 8th Congressional District to incumbent David Kustoff.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Kustoff had more than 56 percent of the vote while Flinn ended with more than 39 percent of the vote. President Donald Trump used Twitter to give Kustoff his “full and total endorsement” on July 31.

Flinn owns a chain of radiology practices in Tennessee and Mississippi. He is also the owner of Flinn  Broadcasting, which manages radio and TV stations throughout the United States.

During his campaign, Flinn supported repealing the Affordable Care Act and “shaking things up.” He also emphasized his place as a political outsider.

“The establishment has worked overtime to keep us out,” he said in one campaign video. “They prefer political insiders they can control. People who are preserving the system like it is. Like you, I won't be controlled by special interests.”
