ASRT supports California’s new RA licensure bill

The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has announced its support of a new licensure bill for radiologist assistants (RAs) being considered by the California Senate.

The legislation, SB 480, was introduced on Feb. 21. It would establish the Radiologist Assistant Practice Act, and the Radiologist Assistant Committee of the Medical Board of California would determine the requirements for RA licensure. The bill also prohibits RAs from performing certain acts and makes a violation of those rules a misdemeanor.

In addition to the ASRT, the California Society of Radiologic Technologists, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Society of Radiology Physician Extenders all also support SB 480.
