NY radiologist suspended for alleged ties to white supremacists

A New York radiologist has been suspended from his position at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx following allegations that he’s a white supremacist, Newsweek has reported.

Dov Bechhofer, MD, a resident radiologist at Montefiore’s Moses Campus, was suspended after his higher-ups learned of a Medium.com article that accused him of being friends with white supremacist authors on social media sites, running a Facebook page for a eugenics conference attended by Neo-Nazis and writing racist comments on the web.

Among his reported comments were, “The West has no use for [Muslims], and they’ll be just fine when they go home.” He also allegedly called for armed militias at the Mexican border, “with orders to shoot illegals,” and has in the past expressed his support for a white ethnostate.

A spokeswoman for the hospital told Newsweek that Bechhofer, 27, was taken off duty immediately after the article—now deleted from Medium’s website—was released, and said an investigation is underway.

“Montefiore was founded on our commitment to healthcare as a basic human right, and we deliver the highest level of care to everyone who comes through our doors, regardless of social or economic status, ethnicity, race or religion,” she said.
