GE Healthcare to expand its production of MRI components

GE Healthcare recently announced a $40 million expansion to its existing MRI components production operations in Florence County, South Carolina.

“We are thrilled to continue to expand our capabilities and invest in Florence. Our vision is to bring the benefits of MRI to more patients around the world; expanding our product line and capabilities in Florence is a step toward helping us achieve that vision,” said GE Healthcare Florence Plant Manager Dale Wolf in a statement to Business Facilities.

The company’s expansion will be to accommodate new products in the company’s portfolio. The existing 500,000-square-foot facility manufactures components for MRI devices and other medical imaging systems.

“This latest investment by GE Healthcare in Florence County is a tremendous example of how companies of all sizes can thrive here,” said South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster in a statement. “With companies like this one leading South Carolina’s manufacturing industry, there is no doubt that our state is going straight to the top.”

The project is expected to create 100 new jobs.
