Canon Medical Systems installs new MR system in Ohio research center

Canon Medical Systems USA announced today that, as part of its partnership with Quality Electrodynamics (QED), the company has installed a Vantage Galan 3T MR system at the new QED Research Center in Mayfield Village, Ohio.

The equipment was installed so QED could image volunteers as the company works toward developing new MR technologies. It will also be available to certain nearby researchers and commercial groups.

“Canon Medical Systems’ state-of-the-art MRI technology marks the first phase of the QED Research Center’s community collaborative innovation platform exploration,” said John Patrick, PhD, president of the QED Research Center, in a prepared statement. “As a strategic partner of Canon Medical Systems, we hope to provide the most cutting-edge MRI technology while continuing to grow our strong pipeline of innovations, which will be accelerated by the installation of a new Galan 3T system.”

The installation “marks the beginning of a new era in collaborative medical device research,” according to Canon’s statement.
