Temperatures are dropping and my front yard is covered in leaves, which means it’s almost time for another eventful RSNA annual meeting in Chicago. I’ve spent some with this year’s schedule and wanted to share five can’t-miss sessions.

The chair of the American College of Radiology (ACR) Board of Chancellors, James A. Brink, MD, spoke to the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee on Energy today in Washington, D.C. The subcommittee was there to discuss the United States Department of Energy’s funding of low-dose radiation research, and Brink told its members that such research was needed to improve patient care.

RSNA announced Thursday, Oct. 19, it is launching three new journals in 2019 to complement its current publications, Radiology and RadioGraphics.

James Brink, MD, head of radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, has reached the halfway point of his two-year term as chair of the American College of Radiology’s (ACR’s) Board of Chancellors. To reflect on his time in the position thus far, Brink penned a “midterm update” for the Journal of the American College of Radiology.

Tuesday morning at AHRA 2017 in Anaheim, Calif., Michael A. Janis, MBA, explained that imaging leaders need two things to truly boost performance scores: a positive patient experience and engaged employees. Just having one of the two, he added, simply doesn’t cut it.

Numerous sessions at AHRA 2017 in Anaheim, California, have focues on topics such as clinical decision support, patient-centered care and leadership. Only one session, however, gave attendees a sneak peek at what it’s like working on the sideline during an NFL game.
