Fallout continues in India after MRI-related death

A man from Mumbai was sucked into an MRI machine and died Jan. 27. Now, both the equipment’s manufacturer and the city’s government are planning to investigate the incident.

Ramesh Bharmal, MBBS, dean of the BYL Nair Municipal Hospital, told NDTV that an engineering team from Philips, the manufacturer of the equipment, will inspect the machine and also submit a report as part of the investigation into the death of 32-year-old Rajesh Maruti Maru.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, a civic body that governs Mumbai, is also planning an inquiry into Maru’s death.
