Family of former NFL player Mike Webster discusses being left out of concussion settlement

Mike Webster of the Pittsburgh Steelers was the first National Football League (NFL) player to be diagnosed with CTE, but his family is getting nothing out of the NFL’s concussion settlement.

KDKA in Pittsburgh profiled Webster’s family on Jan. 26, sharing what life has been like for them in recent years. Webster died in 2002, four years before the determined cutoff date of 2006. If he was eligible, the family could be owed as much as $4 million, according to the KDKA’s reporting.

“It was almost like we were deliberately left out of that settlement,” Pam Webster, Mike’s ex-wife, said in the story.
