McGinty announced as 2018 recipient of ACR Thorwarth Award

The American College of Radiology (ACR) announced Wednesday, May 9, that Geraldine McGinty, MD, MBA, is this year’s recipient of the William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, Award. McGinty is vice chair of the ACR Board of Chancellors, an editorial board member of the Journal of the American College of Radiology and a leader of the ACR’s work related to Imaging 3.0.

The William T. Thorwarth Jr., MD, Award was first established in 2004. It is given to individuals who “demonstrate outstanding contributions to the field of health policy and economics for radiology.”

“Dr. McGinty’s experience as ACR RUC Advisor and RUC Panel member puts her in the unique position to effectively lead radiology’s future in new payment models, through such initiatives as Imaging 3.0,” Ezequiel Silva, MD, chair of the ACR Commission on Economics, said in a prepared statement.

McGinty will receive the award on May 21 during the ACR 2018 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
